i love lists: beauty products

Happy Saturday friends!

I hope you got to sleep in, smell the coffee, and giggle about being in pjs until after 11am. That’s what I did, at least! ūüėČ

If you know me, you know that my beauty product regimen is very simple and no fuss. I’m the type to take a shower 20 minutes before I have to be somewhere and throw on some mascara and lipgloss in the car (at red lights, of course). What I love about the products I use is that they’re inexpensive, simple, and fun! So today’s list will be short and sweet. I’ll start with shower/hair care and end with make-up.

  1. I use 2 kinds of bar soap:¬†Dove for my body and Mr. B’s Necessities for my face.
  2. This little scrubber is great to use after washing my face: Konjac Sponge.
  3. This is my new favorite shower item: Trader Joe’s Lavender Sea Salt Scrub. I rub it on my arms and my legs and it makes my skin so soft and moisturized.
  4. I have always really liked Dove shampoo for my hair. If I don’t shampoo my hair, I like Not your Mother’s Clean Freak Dry Shampoo.
  5. I like 2 kinds of conditioner and usually switch off between OGX Coconut Milk and Neutrogena Triple Repair.
  6. After I get out of the shower, I usually brush my wet hair and rub Macadamia Oil through the ends.
  7. For moisturizers I really like Allafia Everyday Coconut Sunscreen for day and Dessert Essence for night.
  8. For blemishes, this has been my jam forever: Neutrogena SkinClearing Blemish Concealer in light or fair.
  9. For blush I grab something pink and/or bronze with shimmer. This Cover Girl Classic Pink works or this Elf Blush & Bronzer.
  10. For¬†eye-shadow I like natural tones with a pink, brown, and white. I usually get something like this Cover Girl Cafe Au’ Lait.
  11. For mascara, I like Maybelline The Mega Plush Volum’ Express. I like it to be brown-balck and washable.
  12. Last but not least, lip care!! Here’s my confession: I probably own 70 chapsticks…yikes. I just really love chapstick. Whether it’s Burts Bees¬†(tinted too), Chapstick, EOS, or just random tubes from avon and a vanilla one from some Hawaiian souvenir shop. As far a lip gloss, I really like Victoria’s Secret’s options. And for lipsick, I like Clinique Chubby Stick in Mega Melon.

So there you go! That’s my regimen and beauty product list. It’s simple and to the point.

gospel wednesday

Dear friends,

I have been meditating on and discussing death this week. It may sound a bit morbid to be thinking about death, but it really is something we all have and/or will experience in some way or at some time. Jesus wept over this matter and also spoke with great urgency. “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord,” (Romans 6:23).¬†Jesus came to seek and save the lost. He desires to save all that would believe for eternal life with HIM!

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God. (John 3:16-18 ESV)

And all who believe will be able to enjoy Jesus for all of eternity in Heaven. What an inconceivable joy! Reading the poem below was such an encouragement for me (from The Valley of Vision). Keeping my eyes heavenward is such a reminder to share the gospel in word, deed, and action.

Earth and Heaven

O Lord,

I live here as a fish in a vessel of water, only enough to keep me alive,

but in heaven I shall swim in the ocean.

Here I have a little air in me to keep me breathing,

but there I shall have sweet and fresh gales;

Here I have a beam of sun to lighten my darkness, a warm ray to keep me from freezing;

yonder I shall live in light and warmth for ever.

My natural desires are corrupt and misguided,

and it is thy mercy to destroy them;

My spiritual longings are of thy planting, and thou wilt water and increase them;

Quicken my hunger and thirst after the realm above.

Here I can have the world, there I shall have thee in Christ;

Here is a life of longing and prayer,

there is assurance without suspicion, asking without refusal;

Here are gross comforts, more burden than benefit,

there is joy without sorrow, comfort without suffering,

love without inconsistency, rest without weariness.

Give me to know that heaven is all love, where the eye affects the heart,

and the continual viewing of thy beauty keeps the soul in continual transports of delight.

Give me to know that heaven is all peace, where error, pride, rebellion, passion raise no head.

Give me to know that heaven is all joy, the end of believing, fasting, praying, mourning, humbling, watching, fearing, repining;

And lead me to it soon.

Have you ever thought about eternity? Have you found hope in the good news of Jesus Christ? I would truly love to hear your story.

gospel monday

Today is Earth Day…but in my mind it is something incredibly more magnificent.

I believe that the Earth was created by God. By His great power and love, He created all that we know and see. Such beauty and awesome wonder that should not be denied.

Genesis 1:1-5 “In the¬†beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was¬†without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.¬†And God said,¬†‚ÄúLet there be light,‚ÄĚ and there was light. And God saw that the light was good. And God separated the light from the darkness. God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And there was evening and there was morning, the first day.”

Genesis chapters 1 & 2 continue to tell us the truth of how God created this amazing world with perfect wisdom, care and meaning. God does things that are good. He does things that are very good.

When you see a beautiful sunset, a full moon, or sky full of sparkling stars…think of HIM. When you see the massive oceans, the mighty rivers, or the rain pouring down…think of HIM. When you see a tree towering hundreds of feet above you, flowers blooming in full color, or green hills rolling on for miles…think of HIM.

His creation doesn’t stop with the plants and animals. God made every human that walks this earth (Psalm 139:13). He made and formed YOU and He desires that you would worship Him for He is Worthy! Believe in Him and all of your sins are forgiven…that perfect peace is found only in HIM (Romans 8: 1-11).
