gospel wednesday

GW

Dear friends,

I have been meditating on and discussing death this week. It may sound a bit morbid to be thinking about death, but it really is something we all have and/or will experience in some way or at some time. Jesus wept over this matter and also spoke with great urgency. “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord,” (Romans 6:23). Jesus came to seek and save the lost. He desires to save all that would believe for eternal life with HIM!

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God. (John 3:16-18 ESV)

And all who believe will be able to enjoy Jesus for all of eternity in Heaven. What an inconceivable joy! Reading the poem below was such an encouragement for me (from The Valley of Vision). Keeping my eyes heavenward is such a reminder to share the gospel in word, deed, and action.

Earth and Heaven

O Lord,

I live here as a fish in a vessel of water, only enough to keep me alive,

but in heaven I shall swim in the ocean.

Here I have a little air in me to keep me breathing,

but there I shall have sweet and fresh gales;

Here I have a beam of sun to lighten my darkness, a warm ray to keep me from freezing;

yonder I shall live in light and warmth for ever.

My natural desires are corrupt and misguided,

and it is thy mercy to destroy them;

My spiritual longings are of thy planting, and thou wilt water and increase them;

Quicken my hunger and thirst after the realm above.

Here I can have the world, there I shall have thee in Christ;

Here is a life of longing and prayer,

there is assurance without suspicion, asking without refusal;

Here are gross comforts, more burden than benefit,

there is joy without sorrow, comfort without suffering,

love without inconsistency, rest without weariness.

Give me to know that heaven is all love, where the eye affects the heart,

and the continual viewing of thy beauty keeps the soul in continual transports of delight.

Give me to know that heaven is all peace, where error, pride, rebellion, passion raise no head.

Give me to know that heaven is all joy, the end of believing, fasting, praying, mourning, humbling, watching, fearing, repining;

And lead me to it soon.

Have you ever thought about eternity? Have you found hope in the good news of Jesus Christ? I would truly love to hear your story.

our full life: week 35, 36, & 37

Hello friends! Long time, no see (or should I say post)!

I have been avoiding posting…only because it’s been WAY TOO LONG. At the end of August we traveled to Alabama for 7 days, Idaho for 4, and then came home for 2 days before going beach camping in San Onofre for 3 nights!

First of all, I don’t want to overwhelm you with photos so I’ll try to keep it to the highlights. Second, I have procrastinated on keeping up with writing as frequently as I would like to so I feel pretty bogged down. All in all, I think it was great to have that time away and now I’m getting back into the swing of normal life. Slowly…but surely! Here we go:

ofl trip 1Pretty in Pink.

ofl trip 2 Baking with not a lot of success…but at least there’s citrus in the mix!

ofl trip 3I did some shopping before heading to Alabama. I had to prepare for the sweltering heat.

ofl trip 8 Window seat and loving every minute.

ofl trip 9 We arrived and it was as if our family never left. Back to family dinners and Lucy show!

ofl trip 10One of the many things I loved about Alabama: TEA from Piper & Leaf.

ofl trip 11 Summer thunderstorms, football, and coffee…all in an Alabama afternoon.

ofl trip 12 Ceilings at my brother and sister’s church.

ofl trip 13I loved this church! The community, the music, the meal, and the family that will soon belong to the Ladicks. ❤

ofl trip 14 Moss Rock Preserve hike. This trail was gorgeous!

ofl trip 15 Porch sittin’ outside of Cracker Barrel and suckin’ on peppermint sticks.

ofl trip 16For me, this single photo contains immeasurable beauty and grace.

ofl trip 17My favorite part of the trip was having baby Hazel fall asleep in my arms 3 different times. I love her so much.

ofl trip 18Love this photo my sister shot of us with the most beautiful nieces.

ofl trip 23Welcome to Idaho! Where the sky is always blue and the river is always rolling.

ofl trip 19 AND the cows are everywhere (not kidding)! 🙂

ofl trip 20 My mom and her Tom at the highest point in Boise County.

ofl trip 21Me and my Bret looking dusty and excited during our 30 mile ATV ride through the gorgeous Jerusalem Forest.

ofl trip 28Momma and me. Sun in our eyes couldn’t keep us from smiling. ❤

ofl trip 22 Road trip to Idaho City. This ice cream cone had a jelly bean at the bottom!

ofl trip 24 I loved the historic buildings and landmarks in this town.

ofl trip 25Getting to walk for miles and miles is one of my love languages.

ofl trip 26 This is called me hitting the jackpot with a mighty handsome-looking husband.

ofl trip 27I loved how you could see forest bordering all around you in this small Idaho town.

ofl trip 4We arrived safely at home and got right back into the swing of things with a Community Group Kick-Off BBQ. It’s amazing what calm a bonfire can create for the little ones.

ofl trip 5September work traditions going strong: Pumpkin Spice Lattes and budget planning.

ofl trip 6This lovely photo was taken by my friend Gina. We got to share a campsite with her family and that was such a blessing. I am so excited that beach camping will be a tradition for our family for years to come. We love you San Onofre!

ofl trip 7Last, but certainly not least, Wine & Cheese Night on the beach! Us and three other couples joined together for a glorious night of indulgence. Maybe this will become a tradition as well!?

PHEW! If you got through all that, thank you! I appreciate it and I am excited for normalcy to kick in here pretty soon!

Enjoy your week, everyone!
